What’s your favourite place you’ve ever visited?
Tricky question, every place has it charm. But Amsterdam is one of my favourites – a city that has managed to limit the use of cars but are still providing convenient ways of travel for their population, by bike, metro or tram. Together with the beautiful architecture and all the canals, it makes it one of the best cities in the world to visit.
Seen anything lately that made you smile?
My colleagues
What would you say inspires you?
Teamwork. There is nothing like working with others to achieve common goals. It energizes me!
What does your role bring to the business?
Support and advice to our employees and customers, and I also hope to bring some out of the box thinking that can help our business to meet the needs of our customers and most importantly, their customers.
What is your perspective on the industry and its future?
There is a lot of interesting things happening in the industry now, a lot of innovative thinking and a lot of changes to consider and tie together into one larger ecosystem of a city or region. Being able to integrate and innovate over time is key for our industry to keep up with all the great initiatives that are present to make public transit accessible, equitable and seamless for everyone.
Our industry plays a vital role in creating cleaner and less polluted cities, both for better health for the population of our cities, as well as environmental sustainability across the planet.
What do you like most about your career?
I’ve been given the opportunity to work with many different things and seen many of the important duties of a successful business. Everything from sales, all the way through to first line customer support. It has given me insights, perspective and understanding of the challenges and opportunities that people working in these areas of business face on a day-to-day basis.
What’s something that has surprised you about your chosen career path?
That it is not always a choice, it is also very often about taking a leap into something unknown and maybe unexpected in order to evolve as a person and in your profession. Change can be hard, but once you get over that first hurdle, it brings confidence, energy, and inspiration.
What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
If what you are doing doesn’t bring value, stop doing it. Too many things are repeated over and over because that’s what’s always been done. Make sure what you do brings value to someone or something.
What parts of our mission do you connect with?
Think like a customer – Our customers and their customers are at the center of what we do. In the end, our mission is to make mobility easy and promote the use of collective travel. To do that, we need to understand the end customer needs and adhere to them.
