Besancon openly claims to have the least expensive tramway project in France, but it is less well known that the Besancon authorities have also selected the most economical unit ticket support for a tram project. Vix is involved in this innovative project by providing the GINKO network with a ticketing system which will be firstly deployed in the buses, then in the carriages of the new tramway.

The system provided by Vix will provide commercial agency in the city centre with 3 points of sale as well as 3 mobile points of sale.

ERG HK (a Vix China JV) wins another MRT contract

As a key subsidary of Vix’s China JV, ERG HK was awarded the K0855 Replacement of Light Rail Ticket Issuing Machine contract on 8 January with the contract value of HKD 36.6 million (USD 4.7). This is the second MTR contracts won in the last 7 months. The previous contract K0661 Replacement of Gate Electronic won in July 2012 certainly help strength our relationships with MTR.

In the latest Vix news, our UK sales team have secured the first order for our brand new Interchange solution with Cambridge County Council. The development, which began in September, delivers our customers with the ability to easily manage and optimise the use of their Interchange facilities.
The VIX solutions platform for Bus & Rail terminals and interchanges is known as Interchange and is a modular suite of information management software for these
schemes.

Vix Technology Delivers the new ticketing system for Bouches-du-Rhône

On the 5th November 2012, the new ticketing system for Bouches-du-Rhône was officially launched.
This system manages 5 transit authorities: the Bouches-du-Rhône department and 4 urban communities (Arles, Salon-de-Provence, Istres/Martigues, Vitrolles/Marignane). Initially, card sales were restricted to the network of the Department, with sales for the 4 urban communities commencing November 19th.
Unlike the old system where the data was split in 5 separate subsystems, the new system (eBrio) provides everything in a single centralized solution.

National recognition for Cambridge Busway in prestigious awards
Cambridge, UK, October 2012 Cambridgeshire’s Busway scooped a top national award for the most innovative transport project – beating flagship London schemes such as the Emirates Airline and Heathrow Pod.
The award was given at the National Transport Awards in London which was attended by Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin and recognises excellence in transport.
Judges heard how the Busway had beaten all expectations and had carried more than 2.5 million journeys within the first year of opening – well beyond its business case.

Vix Technology’s Cobra the heart of new Charging Stations in the Stuttgart Region
Germany, 25 September 2012. Energie Baden-Württemberg, the state’s largest energy provider, has commenced operation of charging stations which use the Vix Technology Cobra 6000 Contactless Smartcard Reader. Minister Hermann opened the system, which will be utilised by car sharing systems like DB-Flinkster and car2go, and also provided grant approval for the project “Establishing charging infrastructure Stuttgart Region” on 25 September 2012.
